Visitacion Gardens Senior Housing

This non-profit community development project consists of 14 units of housing with a community center. Located on a prominent site 20,000 square foot site, within downtown Brisbane, California. The community center provides services and activities for residents as well as senior citizens in Brisbane, and surrounding communities.
The site plan is organized around a pedestrian circulation system and a sequence of outdoor spaces that offer residents opportunities for group gathering or solitary seating, within intimate outdoor spaces. Pedestrian circulation is easily accessible for elderly residents. There were two main program goals in the design of the site landscaping: 1) create outdoor spaces that reinforce the sense of community at Visitacion Gardens. 2) Create privacy for the residents, as well as the adjacent neighborhood.
