1600 Owens is a core component of the Mission Bay Biotechnology District. The site development design intent was to provide a campus environment that relates to the UCSF Biotechnology Campus and overall goals of the Mission Bay Master Plan.
1600 Owens Kaiser Permanente Medical Office Building is bounded by Owens Street and the 280 Freeway. The building commands a distinctive presence within Mission Bay, is highly visible from the 280 Freeway, directly aligned with the new UCSF Biotechnology Campus. The ten story building consists of laboratories, offices and ground floor retail, as well as an extensive green roof on the sixth floor. Using energy efficient technology in architectural, structural, mechanical / electrical systems and site development design, the building is seeking LEED Gold Certification.
